The adaptation of technology has been so vast, and we all know that we really would find every day existence considerably more difficult without it. To be more specific, the iPhone, quite literally allows us the world at our fingertips, with thousands upon thousands of ‘Applications’ to satisfy every specific need.

An excellent example of the specificity is a group of developers working alongside Apple, solely based in Northern and the Republic of Ireland, who create Apps purely for those living in or visiting the Island.

Whether you wish to experience the Arts and Culture, discover fine dining and seek out the ‘best pubs’ or simply take a walk over Ireland’s green. There will be, just a simple download away, an App that will direct and aid you with your journey and discoveries.

Great Nite

An example of an App suitable for those residing or simply visiting Ireland is ‘Great Nite’, an up to date library of all the nightclubs only on the Island. This APP is possibly an essential for all those looking for a good night, no matter what age you are this App supplies a large variety of ‘nights out’.

It allows you to be slightly picky by giving the option of reducing your search to just a small radius, yet still allowing those more open minded to keep it more general. ‘Great Nite’ allows you to view who has ‘checked in’ to the particular bar or club you are viewing, along with supplying the drink prices, concession prices and any particular events that are occurring at any time.

Easy Food App

Another that I found to be quite interesting is the ‘Easy Food App’. It provides over 500 recipes, including information on all ingredients needed, along with various places to purchase it all. The App allows you to order via phone, making it easily accessible when out and about. The App is very suitable to those living in Ireland and searching for new and improved recipes. Another advantage of this App is it gives a list of where to experience real fine Irish food; completely suitable to those holidaying in Ireland as cooking would not be the top priority.

Heritage Island – Ireland Discount Guide

Heritage Island – Ireland Discount Guide’, This App contains 90 of the most popular attractions throughout the Ireland, from Zoo’s and family activities to Museums and Irish heritage sites. It provides discounts on concessions and shopping to all activities, along with maps and just like the ‘Great Nite’ app, allows you to change the search radius. The App can save you up to 500euros off of attractions in Ireland and it is free to download.

iSpySculpture Dublin’s public art

The wonders of the IPhone continues as the next App ‘iSpySculpture Dublin’s public art’ tracks your location and gives you your own personal guide around Dublin’s Sculptures and history. This is perfect for the visitor, those who do not want to waste time on tours surrounding by bustling tourists, this App will give you the freedom to view the fine histories independently and also allow you to create your own personal walking tour.

‘Get the Focal – Irish Translator

The final app is something that I found to be quite intriguing ‘Get the Focal – Irish Translator’. Having problem with pronunciation and understanding? Well this fantastic App is there for you to have sentences translated, words to be explained and to hear all the correct vocals. This is a wonderful tool to have as a visitor and join in with the locals; getting lost into the Irish culture.

With thousands of more Apps available; from checking the weather, Dublin train and bus services, to religion, hospitals, jobs and music festivals, you really do literally have Ireland in the palm of your hand. For more options, check this list of apps.
