I have been struggling a little with a slow website, at least my wife commented that a site I have been developing is loading slowly on her laptop. So I asked the experts over a Cre8asite forums what they recommend I do and DazzlinDonna suggested WebPageTest.org.
I ran a report (several in fact) and these are the WebPageTest.org results I got.
Pretty impressive stuff really. A full break down of all the parts of a website, the styles, javascript, images, caching, compression (or lack of) with warnings and suggestions along the way.
As a result of this the WordPress Guru Ruud Hein suggested that I modify the .htaccess file to help with caching and speed it all up. Time to load the 2nd page dropped from about 12 seconds to 2 seconds. Splendid!
