Action Plan For Mobile Clients That Have Lost Cash Back Payments

If you have a business contract with Orange and were receiving cash backs from a third party mobile phone seller, then these steps may help you to recover some of your lost cash back payments.

1) Write / Email / Contact Orange.

Explain your situation and request that the consider an earlier review of your account now that your mobile bills have risen as a result of the cash back facility ending.

2) Contact the Administrators

Begbies Traynor aid some companies that go into administration. They may be administrator fo the company that you agreed your mobile contract through. They should be contacting you directly, but you can send a letter of concern now with your details. They may be in a position to provide refunds at a later date.

They can be contacted on 0845 678 2900 or via their website: begbies-traynorgroup.com/begbies-traynor

3) Contact Midland Communications Distribution Ltd

This is the advice from Orange, to send Midland Communications your details, i.e. start and end of contract, how much the contract is for and how much the cash back is. You will need to send copies of all the contracts / bills that you have.

4) Contact WatchDog

Many of our readers have suggested that the more complaints that are received the more likely it is that they will investigate. Remember the issue at hand is, if you agree a mobile contract with a company that ceases trading, why is your contract not ended. Orange always state that the contract is between you and the third party. The third party have said that it is up to Orange to change a contract. If the third party goes out of business why is the contract not void? Remember, stick to the facts always.

Write to Watchdog: BBC Watchdog, 201 Wood Lane, London W12 7TS

Text Watchdog: You can also text Watchdog on 83199. Please start your message with the letters WD and be sure to give your name and location. Texts are charged at standard rates.

You can also send stories online: http://bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/

Please remember to include photocopies of any paperwork as originals cannot be returned.

5) Other Options

Some people have suggested calling other trading standards, Ofcom and Consumer Direct. This may help you also.

In our previous blog post (now removed) many people had reported that none of the above steps had resulted in any compensation yet. However, filing your details may mean you get a cut of any compensation payment that the administrators have, or maybe Orange will decide that in these sorts of cases they can change contract terms mid-contract.

6) Update us how you get on

If you make any progress please update us here. We are all entitled to equal treatment, whether it is by Orange, the administrators or the distribution company.
