Kiss Flights Collapses Leaving 13,000 Holiday Makers Stranded

Yes another British travel agent has collapsed, this time Kiss Flights. Kiss Flights offered cheap flights to Greece, Egypt, Turkey and the Canaries.

KissFlights.com is their website and at the moment there is still not indication of any problem. Their customer information area simply states:

“Our Customer Information page is designed to be a central and convenient place to find information relating to your Kiss Flights.”

The home page has a “maintenance” page up though, which could be a default page when the server crashes under demand, or it could just be that Kiss Flights are trying to hide something.

The last time so many travels agents suffered was after the September 2001 terrorist attacks on America. These recent travel company collapses are apparently as a result of the Icelandic Volcano which caused major travel disruption earlier in the year.

Once again we see how these companies must be operating constantly on the brink of collapse.

Kiss Flights customers are all protected under the Atol protection.

According to the BBC earlier today the Kiss Flights website was working and they stated:

“As of 1700hrs on 17 August the Flight Options group of companies have ceased trading. The Civil Aviation Authority have been informed and we are awaiting further advice on the situation.” Kiss Flights.

The Civil Aviation Authority have announced:

“We are picking up the pieces. People abroad will be fine. We will make sure everyone will be able to come back from their holidays. We will also make arrangements so that all of the people who were Atol [Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing] protected will received full refunds. That will be the vast majority.”

The industry is expected more collapses this year as more companies start to see the real damage that was caused by the Icelandic Volcano.
