Another holiday company has collapsed leaving holiday makers stranded across Europe. It is reported that many hotels are already asking their guests to pay the costs of their stay, even though the tour operator has already been paid.
Most holiday makers are in Spain at the moment and it is thought that many of these are covered by Air Travel Operators’ Licensing (Atol) packages which will allow them to get a flight home at no extra cost. However, many holiday makers on all inclusive package deals are being asked to pay for their stay, and they have no extra money to spare. According to the BBC reports some holiday makers have lost around £12,000 on family holidays which have been booked and paid for but now cancelled.
In a statement Sun4U.com blamed the Icelandic volcano earlier in the year for causes significant losses that it could not recover from. This is another example of a business that has used the Internet to grow a customer base rapidly but never had a solid financial foundation to fall back on in hard times.
If you are a Sun4U customer you should call the Civil Aviation Authority on 08445 717260 to find out what your rights are and more importantly, how to get home if you are stuck in Spain.
