I just got this message when using Google search:
We’re sorry…
… but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can’t process your request right now.
I just learnt about some new commands for search, specifically allintitle: and allintext:
I did a few searches of allintitle: but then when I tried allintext: I got the warning message. I only tried once – does not sound very automated, doing a search once.
According to Google’s help pages I need to now run anti-virus, anti-malware etc. to be sure there is not something on my system doing automatic queries, and then if the problem persists, I need to file a report explaining why I think there is a problem.
Lets hope this is resolved quickly, as for my business using Google search is vital.
So, why was I using allintext:?
The allintext: command should return all websites where a particular phrase appears on a website. I was attempting to find websites that had quoted one of the brands that I manage to look for opportunities to form better partnerships, and to check they were not giving the brand any bad press.
I now need to restart my computer to update Avast! to run the latest AV to double check I am not infected. See you later.
